Southeast Sweden Universities - a strategic alliance

The vice chancellors at Blekinge Institute of Technology, the University of Kalmar, and Växjö University, wish to develop a shared supportive environment for excellent research and higher education in order to achieve and retain high quality and national and international competitiveness.

The long-term cooperation between the three universities in Southeast Sweden was initiated in September 2004. The first phase was completed when an initial project report was handed to the vice chancellors on September 30th 2005, and presented to the university boards in October 2005. (The report and subsequent material is available in Swedish only, see Arkiv).

The cooperation has now moved on to a new and more dynamic phase. The boards of the three universities decided on October 28th 2005 to instruct the vice chancellors to sign a framework agreement for a strategic alliance between the three universities. In-depth analysis of how this cooperation can be supported and operationalized in a number of strategic areas has been carried out during 2006-2007, and currently we are moving towards shared technology support and a shared faculty board.
